It's sad to admit that another Summer has once again departed us leaving us staring down the barrel towards that awkward pre-Winter weather confusion. Full pelt rain yet still 28 degrees? Yep. Transeasonal dressing in Australia isn't for the feint of heart. But in this in-between time I always look forward to adding a few quick updates to my wardrobe that I can pare back with my existing summer and winter pieces to freshen things up. These are the key additions I'll be looking for this Autumn.
These ones from Reliquia have been on my mind for quite a while, they're just enough of a statement to add flair to the most basic casual outfit. Then for something a little dressier, or PM-appropriate the bigger the better. Striking geometric shapes are very current, or intricate jewelled chandelier styles like these from Lyla & Bo.
This season, shirting is huge. But the key is to look for something with a twist. Exaggerated sleeves, additional ruffles or hardware are all details to look out for that will elevate the classic shirt for this year. Most stores are doing some interpretation of this from the very subtle to the highly obvious. This one from Country Road fits in the former category, which makes it perfectly work appropriate.
No doubt you've seen the Gucci's that started the mule-flat trend, and now these are everywhere. Gucci's hardware buckle is filtering through most imitations but I personally like these from Wittner with the wrap detail as it gives this masculine design just the right amount of softness. Or for that touch of gold this modern interpretation from Sportsgirl shown below.
