BALI - DAY 1

bali1.jpg
SO THERE HAS BEEN A BIT OF A GAP IN POSTING HERE ON THE BLOG... THIS IS DUE TO BOTH A VERY GOOD REASON, AND A NOT-SO- GOOD ONE AS WELL. THE NOT-SO-GOOD ONE BEING AN UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT WITH A CUP OF COFFEE GETTING A BIT TOO COZY WITH MY LAPTOP (#CLUMPSYGIRLPROBLEMS) BUT THE BETTER REASON BEING I'VE JUST BEEN TO BALI!!
OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS I WILL BE POSTING WHAT I GOT UP TO EACH DAY & THE PLACES I RECOMMEND IF YOU'RE PLANNING A VISIT.Bali 084Bali 452ON OUR FIRST MORNING WE AWOKE TO THE BEAUTIFUL MAYA LOKA VILLAS IN SEMINYAK. THEIR VILLAS  ARE AN OPEN PLAN DESIGN  MEANING YOU CAN BASICALLY TAKE 3 STEPS FROM YOUR BED AND HOP STRAIGHT INTO THE POOL. WHICH, BY THE WAY, WAS SURROUNDED BY FRANGIPANI TREES - MY FAVOURITE!  THE PEOPLE THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY LOVELY AND EXTREMELY HELPFUL.
ONCE WE HAD HAD BREAKFAST AT THE VILLA WE WANTED TO GET STRAIGHT OUT AND EXPLORE SEMINYAK. WALKING ALONG THE MAIN ROAD (JL. PETITENGET) WE COULDN'T HELP BUT DO A BIT OF SHOPPING...  THIS WAS A GIRLS TRIP AFTER ALL! THERE'S CERTAINLY PLENTY TO CHOSE FROM WITH BOUTIQUES AND RESTAURANTS EVERYWHERE YOU TURN IN SEMINYAK. AS YOU GET CLOSER INTO SEMINYAK SQUARE IT DOES GET BUSIER SO I'D RECOMMEND STARTING AT THE NORTHERN END OF THE ROAD IF YOU'RE AFTER A (SLIGHTLY!) MORE PEACEFUL STROLL.
I REALLY LIKED LULU JASMINE & MAGALI PASCAL(PICTURED BELOW) WHICH BOTH HAD HIGH QUALITY MODERN- BOHEMIAN STYLE CLOTHING, BOTH HAVE SEVERAL BOUTIQUES THROUGHOUT SEMINYAK. IN THE END I PICKED UP A BLACK PLAYSUIT FROM A SMALL MARKETSTALL, SOME SUNGLASSES AND A TOP AND SHORTS FROM THE SHAKUHACHI STORE IN SEMINYAK VILLAGE.
WE ALSO STOPPED ALONG THE WAY AT SEA CIRCUS CAFE FOR A QUICK DRINK. BEING THE INTERIORS NERD THAT I AM I WAS OBSESSED WITH THEIR BATHROOMS!  CHECK IT OUT BELOW TO SEE WHAT I MEAN....

WE ENDED OUR DAY DOWN AT KUTA BEACH (JUST SLIGHTLY SOUTH OF SEMINYAK) AT LA PLANCHA RESTAURANT WHICH IS FAMOUS FOR THEIR BEANBAGS-ON-THE-BEACH SETUP AND GREAT TAPAS. BE WARY, THERE ARE HEAPS OF IMITATIONS ALONG THE BEACH NOW AND WE WERE FOOLED BY ONE THAT GAVE US COCKTAILS THAT I SWEAR THEY HAD CONFUSED METHO FOR TEQUILA... GROSS! ANYWAY.... LA PLANCHA DID NOT DISAPPOINT, THEIR FOOD AND COCKTAILS TASTED INCREDIBLE. THERE WAS A BIT OF A WAIT TO GET SERVICE, BUT YOU CAN DEFINITELY SEE WHY THIS IS THE PLACE EVERYONE RECOMMENDS.
