Pregnancy Favourites Roundup

The emphasis is often on the ‘baby list’ during pregnancy but in this post I wanted to share some of the things and practises I focused on throughout pregnancy to help myself feel a little more… well, like myself! After all this is a time when your body has never felt more foreign. I have to admit how strange it felt to be growing in ways I had not before, and feeling a rollercoaster of daily symptoms I would normally only encounter once in a blue moon.

These are the things I came back to, and tried to incorporate to bring a sense of myself back into my days.

Kintonik Rose Cacao Tea

As I couldn’t continue with my two coffee (shamefully sometimes three) a day habit I had to find something that hit the 2pm craving for something to sip at my desk. I found new love for this caffeine free Rose Cacao Chai with a dash of oat milk to warm me up and satisfy my need for something slightly sweet and aromatic.

At-Home Exercise Programs

Before pregnancy I had been going to a boutique gym that mostly specialised in heated yoga, pilates and HIIT classes which I loved, but obviously couldn’t continue with babe in tow. To get my daily movement I started turning more to online classes, the prenatal pilates program on Fluidform and prenatal Yoga flows on the Deliciously Ella app.

An Organised Life Notebooks

Baby brain aside, one thing I underestimated throughout the pregnancy is the brain fog. Never before has my mind been buzzing with so many lists and to-dos all at once, with keeping up with work, house projects to complete before bubs arrival, my new schedule of medical appointments, pre and post natal self-education and let’s not even get started on the actual baby list. I have turned to list making more than ever before, and as always my favourites by An Organised Life, to get these thoughts out of my head and onto paper and bring back some clarity to my day.

Piyama Lounge Set

Most people will say to get a nice set of pyjamas or loungewear for the newborn days, but I actually went early on this. The halfway point of my pregnancy met with the beginning of winter where I live so as I was reaching for my stretchiest comfy clothes and pyjamas I realised they were all my daggiest sets. My criteria was something that made me feel nice in a natural fabric so that I don’t overheat at night. I purchased a set from Piyama in the softest cotton gauze (sadly now sold out but they do have a beautiful collection at the moment) , which feels so cozy on cooler days but I know will be fine when things warm up again.

Arithmos De-Stress Body Oil

With adjusting to a growing bump and a million to-do’s I’ve been finding my sleep is not as good as I would usually count on. It’s made me really pay attention to my nighttime routine and try to relax as much as possible before bed. One thing I have loved is lathering myself in this luxurious oil after a warm shower. I purchased the sample set and whilst I adore all three scents the De-Stress has the most beautiful spa-like woody scent that is beautiful before bedtime.

Underwear

Whilst I have found I haven’t purchased many new clothes for the maternity period one area I have found I needed to accommodate was my underwear drawer. Not only did I find my bra size drastically change early on, but with a blossoming bump I have never been more aware of wearing comfortable underwear. Whilst I still held onto my long loved Love Stories bralettes, I purchased some everyday briefs and soft bralettes from Boody, and a maternity bra from Juem. A lot of pregnancy recommendations also pointed me to Modi Bodi, particularly for postpartum however I ordered these early and after trying them out have been wearing them too simply because of their comfort.
